This kilim is made using a traditional tapestry weaving technique, with small slits sometimes appearing where blocks of colour meet. These can resemble tiny holes and are a natural characteristic of the weave, not a flaw.
The Modernist Atlas Handwoven Kilim is a striking expression of geometric abstraction, colour and traditional craftsmanship. Its bold composition combines intersecting angular forms, layered shapes and dynamic lines in a vibrant palette of rose pink, ruby red, olive green, dusty blue, warm peach and earthy neutrals.
Inspired by modernist abstract art, the design creates a captivating interplay of colour, movement and structure. Contrasting geometric sections and subtle tonal variations give the surface depth and individuality, transforming this handwoven kilim into a distinctive textile artwork.
Measuring 300 × 242 cm, this generously sized kilim makes an impressive statement in living rooms, dining areas and spacious bedrooms. Its expressive colours complement contemporary furniture, natural wood, velvet upholstery and eclectic interiors, bringing artistic character and warmth to any space.
Handwoven in Northern Afghanistan from 100% natural wool using traditional flatweaving techniques and plant-based dyes, this kilim is lightweight, reversible and suitable for everyday use. Subtle variations in colour and weave reflect its handmade character, while hand-finished fringes along the two shorter ends complete the design.
